Start with the classics bro black sabbath, iron maiden , judas priest , motorhead. Then , if you're not into hard-core but you still like metal I wholeheartedly recommend symphonic metal : nightwish, within temptation, lacuna coil, Epica, haggard, therion, apocalyptica, sonata arctica, lacrimosa. Very artistic and amazing vocals. Then it's the more technical metal or Progressive metal (math metal) with amazing instrumentals and the variety is limitless. I recommend: periphery, animals as leaders, Andy james ( exodus best album), dream theatre ( one of the best ever) , jinjer ( more metalcore but still amazing) . What I listen to I order of preference: In flames ( will forever be my favourite) Slipknot ( my introduction to metal) As I lay dying ( metalcore as fuck) Lamb of god ( badass) Pantera , soulfly , sepultura ( the 3 must have) Born of osiris Chimaira Jinjer Spirit box Avenged sevenfold ( one of the best guitars) Arch enemy Otep Heaven shall burn Limp bizkit Parkway drive Slaughter to prevail Gojira Lacuna coil August burns red Many more but I'm running out of time 😅

Try going backwards through In Flames discography from Battles to Subterranean, that's a real quick acclimatization course. Longer one would be Alt Rock (i.e., Disturbed) to Nu-metal (10k fists era Disturbed) to melometalcore (BFMV, 2014 BMTH, 2014 In Flames) to symphonic power metal (Nightwish, Powerwolf, Sonata Arctica, Gloryhammer, Heidevolk) to melodeath (Ye Olde Gothenburg stuff, Children of Bodom, Omnium Gatherum, Be'Lakor, etc.) to prog/tech and beyond
